This was a self-drafted pattern, pleats (ugh), a fair bit of 2mm foam work, fabric paint, and figuring out a way to fake embroidery on a tight timeline. Also my first attempt at wig styling.

This was a last-minute (well, last-week) passion project that had I really understood the complexity of what I was attempting should have been a month-long project. The hot glue holding the crown together was still cooling as I left the house to head to the convention and I didn't get to bed before 2am the whole week

I started the week with the armour pieces, jewelry, and drape. It's a lot of 2mm foam, hot glue, and acrylic paint. The drape is cloth painted with acrylics mixed with fabric medium.

Next was measuring and drafting a pattern for the dress. All things considered, that was the easy part. Pleats are my sworn enemy. I wound up faking the embroidered design by ironing double-sided interfacing to some fabric that had a visible thread pattern, then cutting the design out by hand, and painstakingly ironing it piece by piece to the dress. The gloves were created by the same process.

I completely forgot makeup. I had the ears applied by a fantastic person at the WETA booth; he commented that "From behind, very femme. From the front, uhhh, your face..."

Biggest regret? Custom dress and I forgot pockets.
